(Above) One of our first (1985) 2-ship formation hops.
View from #4. We graduated, eventually, to 4-ship takeoffs, formation maneuvering, rejoins, pitchouts, et
al, and (2-ship) wing landings. We got quite good, and the formation missions were probably the most fun I've had flying.
If I still lived in Louisiana, I'd still be doing this. In this shot, we start a 'fingertip' formation turn to the left. I'm
flying N25913 in the foreground.
The photo bird is just rolling left as the photographer snapped the photo. I'm the guy sitting on the horizon
line rolling to 90 degrees. You really don't think, "Hey, I'm past 90!" What you do is what you have to in order to stay behind
the guy in front of you. OK, Air Force, whered'ya put the keys to my F-15?!
Formation in the clouds . . . awesome!
October 1993. On a flight from Longview, Texas to our home base at Shreveport Downtown Airport
(DTN), Louisiana. This is the Collings' Foundation's B-24J "All American".
In May 2000, I caught a 1.8 hour ride with the EAA B-17G "Aluminum Overcast" from Birmingham to Nashville,
TN (my second B-17 flight). As we neared Nashville, a P-51 played around with us, then tucked in TIGHT off our right wing.
